I think of "The Cube" and "A Scanner Darkly", for some reason. This guy- with obvious flaws that I won't point out here, for the sake of gentry - can't decide weather he is fascinated, terrified or flattered by the buttons on the wall. The emptiness and whiteness of the room he's in is a mere resonance of a different concept, but I'll let you decide on that one for yourself.
